NEW DETAILS ON THE F-150 LIGHTNING SUPERTRUCK

Ford's experimental F-150 Lightning SuperTruck has just claimed victory at the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. We've known about this electric beast from Ford Performance for a while, but new details about its incredible powertrain have just been revealed. Packed with three high-performance electric motors, this super truck delivers a staggering 1,600 horsepower.

Ford Performance's Sriram Pakkam recently shared more insights into this electric marvel. Here's a breakdown of the newly unveiled tech specs on this record-breaking machine that conquered the challenging Colorado mountain course.

Weight

One of the biggest hurdles for the Ford team was to lighten up the SuperTruck. They managed an impressive 220-pound weight reduction compared to its predecessor, the SuperVan. How'd they do it? By incorporating magnesium forged wheels and other clever engineering, they struck the perfect balance between strength and lightness.

Electric Powerhouse

The heart of the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck is its advanced propulsion system. Developed in partnership with STARD, known for their battery and motor expertise, this setup delivers a potent power package. The system allows for flexible power distribution between the front and rear motors, adjustable right from the steering wheel.

Aerodynamic Mastery

This truck is a master of airflow. With a fully custom suspension and aerodynamic enhancements like a triple-element front spoiler, hood vents, and multiple rear spoilers, the SuperTruck generates an incredible 6,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph.
