FORD MUSTANG MACH-E IS FINALLY COMING TO AUSTRALIA

It took a long wait but Ford is finally jumping on the electric vehicle bandwagon in Australia with a confirmed launch of its Mustang Mach-E electric SUV by the end of this year. The Mach-E arrives in Australia three years after its US launch and Australia and we’ll get three variants of the electric SUV namely, Select, Premium and the range-topping Performance GT model.

The Mach-E Select comes with a 71kWh battery pack along with a claimed range of 470km (pending final homologation). If you want more range, the Mach-E Premium is the most efficient variant as its 91kWh battery comes paired with a single 216kW/430Nm electric motor with a range of up to 600km (WLTP).

Those craving for more performance, the Performance GT model ups the ante with its 91kWh battery and dual motors developing a combined 358kW and 860Nm. As a result, this electrified pony car will dispatch 0-100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds although the range drops to 490km. The GT Performance spec also gets some important upgrades over the standard trims with a MagneRide suspension, performance brakes and an ‘Untame Plus’ drive mode.

The Mach-E will be Ford Australia’s first electric passenger vehicle, following the launch of the electric E-Transit commercial van.

“We are thrilled to bring the Mustang Mach-E to Australia,” said Andrew Birkic, President and CEO of Ford Australia and New Zealand. “It’s an exciting time for electric vehicles in Australia, and Mach-E gives us the chance to do what Mustang has done best for decades – put a smile on customers’ faces.”

“We know Australians love that feeling of driving a performance car, and the Mach-E will mean they can enjoy that iconic Mustang freedom with all the benefits that an EV offers. There is something special about the Mach-E that you can only really understand once you get behind the wheel,” he continued.

Inside, all trims are generously equipped with features such as a 15.5-inch infotainment screen with SYNC4, a 10.2-inch digital cluster, wireless charging, a 10-speaker B&O audio system and a panoramic sunroof.

Online reservations will begin soon and pricing would be revealed closer to the launch. However, the Mustang Mach-E won’t be the only electric offering for Australia as no less than five electrified models are planned for launch by the end of 2024.
