Audi Drops Coupes and Convertibles for 2025

Luxury automakers are not immune to market changes—quite the opposite. The Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman are going away, Mercedes-Benz told us a while back it was killing half of its lineup—which included most convertibles, coupes, and wagons—and now, Audi is reportedly giving the boot to its two-doors and droptops. Sigh. Blame continued cost-cutt...

Nine Favorites From The Nissan Heritage Museum In Japan

It has long struck me that from the half-decade from 1989-94, that Nissan might have had the most interesting passenger car lineup around. There was the twin-turbo 300ZX, which gave Porsche’s 928 some competition for the best GT car at the end of the 20th century. Edmunds: Here are five big SUVs that are great for towing big trailers

When the days get long and the mountains, lakes and campgrounds beckon, you need a vehicle that can pull what you might call the Toys of Summer. Big boats, motorcycles and travel-trailers require muscle to move over hills and highways. A pickup truck will obviously do the job, but a SUV is better suited to also comfortably accommodate your kids, pe...

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser | A Beloved Icon Returns

We were crushed when #Toyota cancelled this much-loved SUV after the 2021 model year, but we’re thrilled to announce its return! Sharing its DNA with the all-new Lexus GX (instead of the larger LX like it used to), we are in love with the 2024 Land Cruiser's bold shape, retro-heritage details and updated technology. The 2024 Land Cruiser comes in 3 flavors: the entry level '1958', the mid-range 'Land Cruiser', and the 'First Edition' — of which only 5000 will be built! — which has even more off road equipment and pampering leather seats. That model will only be available for the 2024 model year, after which only the former two trims will be available. With a price starting in the mid-$50K range, it has a 4-cylinder turbo hybrid engine that is expected to get much better MPG than the old V8-powered model (probably in the mid-20 MPG range). HUGE YAY. This new engine lowers HP to 326 from 381 in the prior model, but it’ll have more zip with torque coming in at 465 lb.-ft., compared to 401 in the prior model. All models are 4WD with various drive modes, 18” wheels, and a nice pretty decent ground clearance of up to 8.7 inches. What’s it missing? A third row, but there are signs that one is probably going to be added in coming model years. The rear seats fold and tumble forward, plus there are USB ports, air vents, grip bars, and cup holders in the cargo area. Hmmm.... Get the full story at Ready to shop for this vehicle? Classic Car Profile: 1949 Cadillac Series 62 Club Coupe

Cadillac had taken a gamble with its first new postwar design for 1948, and it had paid off. Despite styling chief Harley Earl's trepidation, the public loved it all, from the broad hood to the pontoon fenders to the stubby tailfins that had been inspired by the Lockheed P-38 fighter. They loved it enough to make Cadillac the only General Motors division to exceed its prewar production peak. For 1949, the focus shifted to the big change that lay...

13 Sleeper Cars That Can Outrun Supercars

What’s the difference between a sleeping beast and a sleeping beauty: you don’t want to wake the sleeping beast. The problem is when a beast is also beautiful, you might touch the tiger’s tail and realize your mistake in half a second. In the world of supercars, every second counts. They take pride in covering long distances in impressively short times. We know that some ‘sleeping beauties’ are actually beasts in disguise. For example, the Aston Martin DB11 and Audi R8 V10 supercars are proud beasts that need approximately 4 seconds to accelerate from rest to 60 mph. Their looks alone speak volumes about what they can do, but you can’t say the same about the ‘humble’ Buick Grand National GNX, which is as fast as the DB11, or the much faster BMW M550i xDrive with no claims to the supercar designation. So, next time you see a sleeping beauty, don’t be so eager to wake ‘em. You can hardly be startled by supercars with their check-me-out exterior. What you want to watch out for is the beast hidden in plain sight; they can surprise even the most seasoned gearheads. We give you 13 ultimate underdogs worthy of the crown.

New Toyota MR2! FT-Se Concept: Japan’s Porsche Cayman Rival

This is the Toyota FT-Se: nothing to do with share indexes, everything to do with driving fun. It’s an electric sports car of course, imagining a near future of what a GR-branded, two-seater lightweight could look like, and what it could offer using next-gen technology. Like Toyota’s clever ‘prismatic’ batteries that offer a greater range and quicker charging over what’s currently available. The idea with the FT-Se is for the all-wheel-drive setup to have a rear-bias, not just for better traction, but also for better cornering, more driver confidence and of course, to allow some sideways lunacy. Sounds good to us. Toyota has indicated the Nürburgring will be one of the key battlegrounds for the FT-Se, and although they’ve not released official figures, we can expect a 0-62mph time of around three seconds and an estimated top speed of 155mph.
