LAMBORGHINI URUS REPLACEMENT CONFIRMED FOR 2029, WILL BE FULLY ELECTRIC

The replacement for Lamborghini's most popular vehicle, the Urus, will arrive in 2029, and it'll be fully electric, said CEO Stephan Winkelmann.

Winkelmann, speaking to journalists at a preview for the Aventador's successor in Sant 'Agata on Friday, confirmed a new generation for the high-performance SUV will come one year after the brand launches its first all-electric vehicle in 2028.

"In '28 and '29 we will have our first two BEVs," Winkelmann said. "We will have a fourth model, so today we have three models. It will be the first one to be completely a BEV car in 2028. And then in 2029 there will be the new Urus."

The Lamborghini CEO says its first two EVs will help to drive down the brand's overall emissions by 80 percent versus today's output. Also assisting is the Italian supercar maker's plan to hybridize the current Urus in 2024.

"This year and next year we are going to hybridize all of our lineup," Winkelmann said. "The first one is the positioning car, so the real Lamborghini, the tip of the spear of our lineup."

Winkelmann is, of course, referring to the Aventador's successor, which is expected to be a plug-in hybrid.

"And then we'll model the Urus as a hybrid in 2024," he continued. "And at the end of '24 the brand-new Huracán will come to market."

The CEO said in the same presentation that the Huracán's replacement too will be a plug-in hybrid.

Winkelmann laid out a more granular version of this roadmap for the company back in 2021, telling Road & Track every car in its lineup would be a hybrid by 2024. So it sounds like things are right on schedule.
