NEW PEUGEOT 408 GOES ON SALE PRICED FROM £31,995

Peugeot has announced pricing for its revised 408.

Available to order now, the new 408 gains a number of revisions to both its exterior and interior, but remains available with electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The 408 is priced from £31,995 and is available in three specifications – Allure, GT and GT Premium – while the electric version is also available with the government’s Electric Car Grant which lops £1,500 off the EV’s starting price and brings it to £34,195.

The exterior of the fastback model now has an illuminated Peugeot badge on GT and GT Premium cars, while the front end gains revised ‘three claw’ daytime running lights. At the rear, the Peugeot lettering is illuminated – the first model from the brand to gain this feature.

New 19-inch alloy wheels are available on the E-408, while 20-inch ‘Monolithe’ alloys can be equipped on the plug-in hybrid as an optional extra.

Inside, the instrument panel benefits from new graphics, while contrast stitching is used on all specifications. As before, Peugeot’s i-Cockpit system provides key information with a 10-inch infotainment screen joining with a 10-inch instrument panel. All cars get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, too, while virtual ‘i-toggles’ gives quicker access to key functions.

Standard hybrid models utilise a 1.2-litre engine with a 48-volt hybrid system while the plug-in hybrid model has a larger 1.6-litre petrol engine linked to a 16.2kWh battery for up to 50 miles of electric-only range.

The E-408, meanwhile has a 58kWh battery with a range of up to 282 miles from a single charge. Vehicle-to-load technology means that the car’s power can be used to supply electricity to domestic devices.
