The action includes a major Tesla recall, with 2.98 million Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X vehicles affected. This China automotive recall also spans eight other automakers, with Tesla’s portion scheduled to begin September 25 following the August 21 announcement. Automakers will add warning labels, mark emergency releases, and deliver over-the-air updates, including a Tesla update that lowers windows after a collision. China will require mechanical door releases inside and outside on new vehicles from January 1, 2027.
